HMS Vigilant is the third of the Royal Navy’s Vanguard-class nuclear powered ballistic missile Submarines. Together with her sister vessels, she carries the UK’s strategic nuclear deterrent. The deterrent patrol cycle carried out by the Vanguard-class began in 1969 – and has continued unbroken to this day.
HMS Kent is a Type 23 Frigate and part of the fleet that is considered to be central to our frontline operations. That includes disrupting the work of criminals, including smugglers, pirates and drug traffickers. As one of the Royal Navy’s newest Frigates, she’s been specially designed for versatility, meaning she can undertake a wide variety of operations, from combat and humanitarian aid to acting as a training vessel for the next generation of Royal Navy Engineers. She has also played a key role in high profile ceremonial events.
The Royal Australian Armoured Corps (RAAC) is a combat arm with a range of capabilities that can be employed by the Army. RAAC units are able to participate in a range of operations including direct attack, reconnaissance and armoured mobility to Infantry. Units of the RAAC are equipped with the Abrams M1A1 Main Battle Tank (MBT) family of vehicles or the Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) and Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle (PMV).
The Tank Regiment – The Tank Regiment operates the Abrams Main Battle Tank. The Regiment’s manning and equipment make it suitable for a variety of employments. The role of the tank, in coordination with other arms, is to close with and destroy the enemy using fire, manoeuvre and shock action.
Queen Alexandra’s Mounted Rifles (QAMR) is an Armoured Regiment of the New Zealand Army and forms part of the Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps. The Regiment was formed in 1864 and is currently an Armoured Cavalry unit equipped with NZLAV.
Is a Canadian Forces Armoured Regiment based in CFB Valcartier, on the outskirts of Quebec City. The Regiment has both Regular Force and Primary Reserve components. The 12e Régiment Blindé du Canada’s abbreviation is 12e RBC. Both the regular and militia Regiments serve mainly in the armoured reconnaissance role but a Squadron of tanks is now being formed out of Valcartier.
13th Lancers is the successor to the 1st Native Troop raised in 1804, and the 2nd Native Troop raised in 1816. It is also the senior most Armour Regiment of the Indian Sub-Continent.
The 2nd Lancers (Gardner’s Horse) is one of the oldest and most highly decorated Armoured Regiments of the Indian Army. It was originally raised in 1809. It served in the Nepal and First World War. During the reconstruction of the British Indian Army in 1922 it was amalgamated with the 4th Cavalry.
The 2nd Lancers (Gardner’s Horse) was formed from the following:

and the 4th Cavalry – (1904 title)
and was included in the first group.
The Royal Tank Regiment has had a long association with The 501ᵉ Régiment de Chars de Combat, an Armoured Tank Unit of the French Army created on May 13 1918, and which took part in the two World Wars, the Russian Civil War, the Indochina War, and the Algerian War.
